The Sobrato Center is a 45,000 SF building dedicated to the school’s Art and Music programs, which features a thrust-stage and 440 seat theatre. Theatre facilities also include an orchestra pit, fly space, full off-stage space, and a full shop for set-building.

 

A second “Black Box” theatre, which is used for smaller and more experimental productions, Sanguine Humours performances and student directed/written one-acts, seats between 90-130 people.

 

Also housed within the award winning building is  an orchestra room, 11 classrooms, a ceramics studio and a digital media arts lab. The structure was situated on a confined site, near a flight-path and railroad, which required acoustical considerations in its structural frame. LEED Gold.

 

Our design engineers provided MEP and sustainable design services to deliver a state of the art facility for college prep program. Natural ventilation coupled with radiant floors and displacement ventilation formed the backbone of the energy efficient design. LED lighting was used throughout. Our team also developed advanced façade models to maximize its efficiency.
